Having been postponed for the past two years due to the ongoing pandemic, the next edition of the festival will be held according to a format taking into account the evolution of the health situation in Morocco and in the world, the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation said in a press release.
The 18th edition of the festival was marked by the awarding of the Étoile d’Or to Nicolás Rincòn Gille’s "Valley of Souls" (Colombia) by a jury headed by Scottish actress Tilda Swinton.
In 2020 and 2021, the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation delivered the 3rd and 4th editions of the Atlas Workshops online. These workshops are the Festival’s industry programme dedicated to filmmakers from the African continent and the Arab world.
Since its inception in 2018 and over its four editions, the Atlas Workshops programme has supported 88 projects and films, several of which have gone on to win awards at prestigious festivals.
