The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, stressed that the said project is in the legal and social field, which led the government to schedule it as the first bill in the cultural field, to protect the rights of creators and authors.
This bill reflects the commitment of the government in the social field and in the use of profitable investment instead of subsidies, added the Minister.
It also aims to include provisions for the digital exploitation of musical, audiovisual and visual works, and to bring the law into line with international conventions, including the Marrakech Treaty to facilitate access to published works for the blind, visually impaired and people with other print reading difficulties.
This aims to add new provisions relating to the protection of copyright and related rights in the digital world, as well as other requirements related to the droit de suite (or Artist's Resale Right) which concerns the material rights of visual artists arising from the resale of their original works.
