Celebrating the city of Rabat, capital of culture in the Islamic world, the exhibition which runs until April 30 offers to discover rare titles of old publications in Morocco, dating back to the beginnings of lithography in the Kingdom (1846) and which owe their existence to the judge of Taroudant, Muhammad Ibn Al-Tayyib Al-Roudani.
"The BNRM has stood out this year in the World Book and Copyright Day, following the example of international cultural institutions, by presenting the rare cultural works," BNRM director, Mohamed El Ferrane, told MAP.
"The publications on display tell the story of the book that the Kingdom has witnessed in the nineteenth century, until the discovery of printing in its modern form," he added.
"The exhibition is an opportunity to introduce readers and visitors of the BNRM, these examples of lithographs that consist of early magazines and books published whether literary, philosophical or scientific ones," he noted.
The BNRM which houses jewels of lithographs offers through this exhibition the opportunity to particularly discover some examples of the first magazines published in Morocco, in Arabic and foreign languages, from 1904 until the beginning of independence.
