This security operation was carried out at a warehouse in the region of "Badriouyene" located at the exit of the city of Tangier, National Police (DGSN) say in a statement.
The said operation was carried out under the supervision, on the ground, of officers of the judicial police of the police headquarters of Tangier.
The intervention led to the arrest of an individual with a criminal record, aged 61 and suspected of links to a criminal network active in international drug trafficking, DGSN adds, noting that the searches carried out at the warehouse led to the seizure of a large refrigerated trailer containing dozens of bags and bundles filled with cannabis resin.
Large amounts of drugs were also found inside the same warehouse, packaged and stuffed into fruit and vegetable figurines, the color and size of which are likely to facilitate their exit from Morocco as agricultural products intended for export, underlines the same source.
The drugs seized were handed to the competent customs services, while the suspect arrested was placed in custody pending the end of the investigation carried out by the prefectural service of the judicial police of the city of Tangier under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, in order to identify all the possible people involved in this criminal activity and to determine all the regional and international ramifications of this criminal network, says the same source.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts made by the DGSN services to fight and dismantle international criminal networks in general, and those active in international drug trafficking in particular.
