The agreement was Signed by CNDP president Omar Seghrouchni and APDP head Yvon Detchenou, on the sidelines of the General Assembly (GA) of the Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA-RAPDP).

The convention aims to establish the framework of cooperation in the field of personal data protection and privacy between Morocco and Benin.

"This partnership will allow the two personal data protection authorities to work together to improve the protection of personal data of our fellow citizens in Benin and Morocco, Detchenou told M24, MAP's 24h rolling news channel.

Morocco and Benin share excellent political and economic relations as reflected by the establishment of Moroccan companies in Benin, which involves a large exchange and transfer of personal data, he added.

"We will soon receive the CNDP in Benin to launch these programs, including aspects related to digital identity," Detchenou stated.

In similar remarks, Seghrouchni noted that the CNDP launched the "DATA-TIKA" programs in July 2020 and signed partnership agreements with major national institutions, universities and ministries among others.
