Initialed by High Commissioner for Planning Ahmed Lahlimi Alami and Libyan Planning Council President Meftah Abdelwahed, this agreement aims to coordinate the positions of both parties at regional or international meetings.
This coordination goes in accordance with the official guidelines of both countries and particularly in the context of reporting on the evaluation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2063 Agenda of the African continent.
The two parties have agreed on a set of activities, including the exchange of expertise developed on both sides, as well as the organization of training for the benefit of executives of both institutions.
Officials have also planned to meet regularly to develop cooperation programs that relate to the interests of both institutions in the field of indicators production as well as in the framework of planning , to benefit from the HCP's experience in this area for several years.
On this occasion, Lahlimi told MAP that this meeting is an opportunity to better understand and monitor Libya's potential development model, stressing that the objective is to develop a partnership and a meeting program based on the axes of cooperation.
The Moroccan official also stressed the need to unify efforts in the field of planning and statistical studies to meet the challenges relating particularly to climate change, recalling in this regard, the importance given by the New Development Model (NMD) to sustainable development.
For his part, the Chairman of the Libyan Planning Council, welcomed the signing of this agreement with Morocco, saying that this meeting is an opportunity to identify the main lines of cooperation between the Kingdom and Libya in the field of strategic planning specifically.
He also expressed the interest of his institution in the achievements of the Kingdom, specifically in the field of reporting and monitoring the implementation of the SDGs, as well as the tools that have been developed so far to facilitate the coherence and integration of these goals in the sectoral plans of Morocco.
