"Morocco has invested heavily in the development of renewable energy, infrastructure and training, while launching important constitutional reforms that have enabled it to take decisive steps in the respect of human rights and in improving the quality of life of citizens," said the Italian MP in a statement published on the website of the Democratic Party, a few days after a working visit to Morocco of the parliamentary inter-group supporting the autonomy plan in the Moroccan Sahara.

The Italian MP noted that the Kingdom "actively cooperates with the Council of Europe for the strengthening of democracy in all its forms," stressing that "Morocco is, moreover, a world model of tolerance and coexistence thanks to the wisdom of HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful."

A parliamentary inter-group in support of the autonomy plan in the Moroccan Sahara was formed on May 31, 2022, at the initiative of several MPs and senators belonging to different Italian political groups, including Belinghieri.
