The official opening ceremony of this meeting was chaired by Senegalese Head of State Macky Sall in the presence of Morocco's Kawtar Mawas, vice-president of the Association Jeunesse et Avenir (AJA), who was elected president of the African Liberal Youth for Freedom (ALYF) during the founding congress of this organization.
In addition to Ms. Kawtar Mawas, Morocco is represented at this 50th IFLRY General Assembly by Badreddine Bouchouirab, President of the Association Jeunesse et avenir (AJA) and member of the Mouvement Populaire (MP) party and Ms. Wiam Essekkat, member of the political bureau of the Parti Marocain Libéral (PML).
Before the opening ceremony, the Senegalese president was keen to receive in audience Ms. Kawtar Mawas, following her election as president of the African Liberal Youth for Freedom (ALYF), along with Moussa Sow, national leader of the Convergence of Republican Youth, vice-president of ALYF and of the bureau of this association.
In his speech at the opening of this General Assembly, the Senegalese head of state stressed that the project of liberalism must constantly start from the human and return to him.
"The project of liberalism must constantly start from the human and return to the human, because it must have as its goal the welfare of each individual," said Macky Sall. "You are holding your General Assembly at a time when the world is facing many challenges."
"By choosing the theme, you remain at the heart of progressive thinking of liberalism as a global project of society that embraces the contours of its time while remaining attached to what constitutes its DNA, that is to say the defense of freedom of initiative and free enterprise," he continued.
