Speaking at an oral questions session at the House of Representatives, the official stressed the importance of Morocco's strategic position, the skills of its youth in digitization, and the country's position among the top three players in the field of outsourcing in Africa.
Moroccan investments, the field of digitization attracts investments from several countries including the United States, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan and India, said Mezzour, adding that the digital sector employs 120,000 people.
The minister delegate emphasized the efforts made at the international level, recalling her recent visit to India, where an MoU was signed with an Indian company to launch an investment project in Morocco with a view to creating thousands of high value-added jobs in the field of coding, software and computer services.
This memorandum of understanding marks the installation in Morocco of an Indian outsourcing giant, which operates in about fifty countries and employs more than 200,000 people worldwide with a turnover of over 11 billion dollars in 2022, she said.
At the national level, Mezzour recalled the signing, last Saturday, of two agreements for the creation of a programming and coding school and an incubation center for start-ups in the region of the Oriental.
Morocco is working on completing the legal framework of digital confidence of users and digital sovereignty of the Kingdom, in addition to its involvement in several international conventions in this area, she said.
In response to a question on the "preservation of digital sovereignty," Mezzour stressed that the issue has become relevant in recent years, especially with the great development of the digital sector and its daily use in several transactions.
