Morocco: Over 39,000 Companies Created by End of May 2022

Casablanca - The number of companies created in Morocco reached 39,732 units during the first five months of the year 2022, according to Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC).

These companies are divided between legal persons (27,812) and natural persons (11,922), the OMPIC points out in its business creation barometer.

By sector, trade accounts for 35.89% of total business creation, followed by construction and public works (BTP) and real estate activities (18.45%), various services (17.25%), transport (9.20%), industries (6.83%), hotels and restaurants (6.37%), Information Technology and Communication (2.59%), agriculture and fisheries (2.29%) and financial activities (1.14%).

By region, Casablanca-Settat is home to 11,305 companies, ahead of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (5,472), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (5,438), Marrakech-Safi (3,793), Fez-Meknes (3,084), Souss-Massa (2,625), the Oriental (2. 178), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (1,885), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (1,439), Drâa-Tafilalet (1,128), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (954) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (433), the OMPIC says.

62.5% of the companies created are single-shareholder limited liability companies, 37.2% are limited liability companies and 0.2% are public limited liability companies.
