During this visit, the UN official was informed of the various infrastructure and different ambitious programs implemented to improve the situation of this social category in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.
On this occasion, Maalla M'jid held talks with the wali of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar and the president of the Regional Council, El Khattat Yanja, on ways to accelerate the implementation of the mechanisms put in place for the protection of children and to undertake tangible actions to preserve the rights of this category.
In a statement to M24, MAP's news channel, Maalla M'jid said that this visit is an opportunity to meet with various local actors of child protection.
In this context, she called for the translation of public policies into concrete actions, insisting on the harmonization of national laws with the international commitments of Morocco.
The UN representative also said that child protection is not dependent on a single sector, arguing that this issue must be integrated into a comprehensive policy of social protection and national, regional and local development.
In addition to the cities of Rabat and Dakhla, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children will also visit Tangier and Casablanca.
