The Kingdom was elected by the FAO Council, along with three other countries, namely Cameroon, Lesotho and Uganda, to serve on the FAO Executive Board for a three-year term from June 30, 2023 to June 30, 2026.
The Kingdom's election was strongly supported by the GRA in recognition of its expertise in food security, as well as the solidarity initiatives and high-impact concrete actions undertaken by Morocco under the far-sighted leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in favor of sister countries on the African continent.
It is also a recognition of its active role in the UN organizations based in Rome and its solidarity with African countries in the governing bodies to support programs and projects with high potential for African countries.
The FAO Conference is the sovereign governing body of the Organization. It is composed of representatives of all Member States and Associate Members. It decides general policy, approves the budget of the Organization and exercises all other powers vested in it by the Constitution.
The 43rd session of the Conference was marked by the re-election of Qu Dongyu for a second four-year term as Director-General of FAO.
