During the competition, which took place from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, the majority of the medals collected by the national team- 34 out of 58 (including 18 gold medals) - were won by Moroccan female athletes.
With its 58 medals, Morocco topped the rankings of this sporting and cultural event for the first time in its history, setting a new record in terms of the number of medals collected, with 42 medals in athletics, 8 in judo, 5 in road cycling, 2 in wrestling and one in ball juggling.
In a statement to MAP, Bouchnan said that "this exceptional achievement by Moroccan athletes will go down in the annals of Moroccan sporting history", highlighting that this feat by Moroccan sportsmen and women was no accident, but the result of good preparation, thanks to the efforts made by the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in sports, across all disciplines.
This remarkable achievement bodes well for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he emphasized, extending his congratulations to Moroccan athletes for their commitment and dedication in representing the nation's colors and values.
