The earthquake, whose epicenter was located in the municipality of Ighil, 80 km southwest of Marrakech, was felt in several Moroccan cities within a radius of 400 km around its epicenter, Jabour told MAP early Saturday morning.
"The main shock was followed by hundreds of aftershocks, the strongest of which reached around magnitude 6.0", he pointed out, noting that generally aftershocks are not of the same intensity as the main earthquake.
The expert added that aftershocks tend to wind down as we move away from the seismic fault zone.
