In a press release, the Ministry categorically stated that these reports are "false" and reassured the public about the good condition and normal operation of the mentioned dams.
The Ministry also clarified that it had initiated inspections of all dams across the country, whether in operation or under construction, on the night of September 8. It emphasized that these hydraulic structures did not sustain any damage due to the earthquake.
Continuous monitoring of all dams in Morocco is carried out by the central monitoring unit within the Directorate General of Hydraulics, along with technical teams from water basin agencies, supported by engineering experts, according to the press release. No issues or malfunctions have been reported at any of the country's dams.
The Ministry called on citizens to exercise greater caution regarding the accuracy and credibility of information related to the earthquake's effects, the press release concluded.
