The group included 12 women and two minors, who were aboard a makeshift boat located 50 km from Akhfenir.

The individuals, hailing from sub-Saharan Africa, received initial medical care on board before being safely transported to the port of Tarfaya on the same day, where they were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the standard administrative procedures.
