Dakhla: Coastal Surveillance Elements Assist 288 Sub-Saharan Migrants
Rabat - Coastal surveillance elements intercepted, on Friday, during two assistance operations, respectively 30 km north and 180 km southwest of Dakhla, two canoes with on board 288 would-be migrants (228 Senegalese, 55 Gambians and 5 Guineans), in the territorial waters to the south of the Kingdom, according to a military source.
The canoes in question took to the sea respectively, on October 19 and 25, 2023, from the Senegalese coast and intended to go to the Canary Islands, the same source said.
The rescued people, including 10 women and a baby, received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures.
