According to preliminary investigation data, elements of the national police had spotted the main suspect who had travelled from M'diq to Tangier to deliver a shipment of cocaine and psychotropic tablets to the second suspect, said the national police (DGSN), adding that search operations led to the seizure of 5.4 kg of cocaine and 6,642 "Rivotril" psychotropic tablets.

Ongoing search operations in this case have also led to the seizure of a large sum of money in national currency, suspected to be the proceeds of trafficking in cocaine and psychotropic substances, added the DGSN in a statement.

The two suspects were placed in police custody for the purposes of the judicial investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to elucidate the ins and outs of this case, noted the statement, pointing out that this operation is part of the efforts being made by the security services to combat drug trafficking networks.
