In statements to MAP, on the sidelines of the meeting of the standing committees of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, they stressed the central role played by the institution of Imarat Al Mouminine (Commandery of the Faithful) as a bulwark against extremist discourse, praising in particular its involvement in guiding fatwas.
Head of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulama section in Guinea-Bissau, Sheikh Mohamed Warry Baldi, warmly welcomed the Commander of the Faithful's initiatives, emphasizing HM the King's efforts to promote African religious unity.
He added that the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema reflects the cohesion of the continent, bringing together scholars representing North, South, East and West Africa under its banner.
For his part, Zahruddin Mohamed Lani, professor of Islamic Studies at Bayero University in Nigeria, praised the initiatives of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, particularly with regard to the training of imams, emphasizing the importance of using modern technology to clarify the true foundations of Islam.
Head of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema section in Nigeria said that His Majesty the King is endeavoring to raise the Islamic nation to higher levels, making Islam acceptable at continental and global levels through the work of the Ulema.
For his part, Ibrahim Hachem Hachimi, a member of the Foundation’s section in Nigeria, emphasized the role played by His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, who is constantly striving, he said, to make cooperation a reality on the African continent.
Ahmed Said Ould Bah, representative of the Mauritanian section of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, described the institution as "a leader throughout Africa, in each country, and in each section separately".
He emphasized the importance of the specific programs set out by the Foundation, serving as a basis for coordinating religious issues and unifying the efforts of African Ulema.
