Royal Navy Assists 72 Would-Be Irregular Migrants
Rabat - Two Royal Navy fighting units intercepted, on Wednesday night, two inflatable boats heading for the Canary Islands, respectively 39 km southwest of Tarfaya and 41 km northwest of Tan-Tan, carrying 76 would-be irregular migrants, including 54 Sub-Saharans and 22 Moroccans, according to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The rescued individuals were given the necessary treatment before being taken to the ports of Laayoune and Tan-Tan respectively and will be handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source concluded.
