During the meeting, Cheikh Niang commended the efforts of HM King Mohammed VI, who heads the Al-Quds Committee, for promoting values of peace and coexistence in the region, particularly in Al-Quds Asharif. Niang also acknowledged HM the King's role in safeguarding the legal status of the Holy City, as highlighted in a statement by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency.
The encounter took place on the sidelines of a conference hosted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, titled "Al-Quds and the War on Gaza: Palestinian Identity and Existence under the Threat of Obliteration." Niang expressed the UN Committee's desire to bolster cooperation with Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif, an agency under the Al-Qods Committee of the OIC.
Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, in turn, praised the UN Committee's commendable initiatives aimed at raising global awareness about the significance of protecting Al-Qods and preserving its legal standing. He emphasized the necessity of convening future meetings to strategize joint actions towards achieving shared objectives.
The discussions underscored a shared commitment to advancing the Palestinian cause amidst ongoing regional challenges. Both parties agreed on the importance of sustained cooperation and dialogue to address pressing issues affecting Al-Quds and its inhabitants.
