"The Royal appeal to speed up the implementation of projects scheduled under the national water policy outlines an agenda that comes at a time when Morocco's water problems are becoming increasingly complex, due to a succession of years of drought and rising demand," the teacher-researcher told MAP.
The aim is to efficiently satisfy the water needs of citizens, meet the increased demand for productive activities, particularly irrigation, and support the Kingdom's socio-economic development trajectory, noted El Hiri, underlining the importance attached by the Sovereign to the need to devise innovative solutions.
"The construction of dams in rainfall-rich regions, the development of desalination plants powered by green energy, wastewater treatment and the connection of water basins are all solutions to ensure a continuous supply of water and strengthen the country's food security," he stressed.
