Dakhla: Royal Navy Assists 59 Sub-Saharan Irregular Migrants
Rabat - A Royal Navy frigate intercepted a pirogue carrying 59 would-be irregular migrants, all of sub-Saharan origin, on Sunday during an assistance mission at sea some 229 km southwest of Dakhla.
The rescued people, who intended to reach the Canary Islands, received the necessary treatment on board before being taken to the port of Dakhla and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, according to a statement by the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
