The Kingdom will host the Committee headquarters in accordance with the decision of the AU Executive Council, held in July 2023 in Nairobi, based on the report of the technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sport, under the AU, the ministry said in a statement.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the High Vision of HM King Mohammed VI, aimed at working with and for Africa, the same source noted, adding that South-South cooperation is one of the pillars of the Kingdom's foreign policy, under the enlightened leadership of HM the King.
The ministry recalled that this Committee is an AU initiative aimed at promoting creativity and fostering exchanges between different African cultures. It also aims to strengthen cultural cooperation and promote arts and culture in major African cities.
The Committee is in charge of organizing African cultural events and selecting capitals of African culture among the different countries of the continent.
