“Under the impetus of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has undertaken a radical transformation of its energy landscape, focusing resolutely on the diversification of energy sources and the strengthening of the Kingdom's energy independence,” stressed the experts at this panel themed “Common challenges in energy, sustainable development and decarbonization.”

Thus, the Kingdom has implemented several strategies to establish solid foundations in renewables and facilitate the transition towards sustainable development projects, they added, noting that renewables now constitute 45% of the national energy mix.

Pointing out that electricity production has reached almost 29% of Morocco's energy mix, the panelists called for developing more partnerships aimed at encouraging the decarbonization of means of production based on renewable energies. 

They added that infrastructure development and the multiplication of activities, projects and investment plans aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are also necessary for a successful energy transition. 

They stressed the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships and improving collaboration in Europe, particularly with France, in the fields of renewable energies and decarbonization, in order to optimize existing infrastructure and develop water desalination techniques.

Highlighting the strengths of Morocco's industrial ecosystem, particularly in the automotive and aeronautics sectors, the experts also called for broader areas of cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and industry within a win-win framework.
