Speaking at the opening of the 16th edition of the MEDays International Forum, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the Comorian President paid heartfelt tribute to the Sovereign for Morocco's bilateral and multi-sectoral diplomacy and praised His Majesty's visionary leadership in Africa.
The Comorian President reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the principle of state sovereignty, emphasizing that the Comoros has always supported Morocco’s territorial integrity, while welcomeing the recognition by major global powers of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
Assoumani added that this event provides the opportunity to address global challenges, particularly those facing Africa, pointing to a geopolitical landscape increasingly marked by rising tensions and a disrupted international order, stressing the urgent need to find solutions that enable countries to confront crises, maintain peace, and ensure global stability.
"The resilience we need today is one that allows our states to adapt and overcome challenges while preserving their sovereignty, which is constantly under threat from the upheavals affecting Africa. These challenges are both internal and external," he stated.
Assoumani underscored that the forum serves as a platform to initiate discussions and adopt shared strategies to navigate the shifting geopolitical landscape, "We have a duty to shape a future where state sovereignty is safeguarded, and global challenges are addressed collaboratively, constructively, and positively," he added.
He stressed that the sovereignty and resilience of states and institutions, often undermined across many African nations, rely on political will and determination to resolve existing conflicts and prevent future ones, noting that this requires proactive measures through diplomacy and mediation to tackle root causes and avert crises and conflicts.
Themed "Sovereignty and Resilience: Towards a New Global Balance," the forum brings together over 250 speakers, including heads of State and government, policymakers, Nobel laureates, leaders of major international companies, and influential personalities.
