In a statement to the press on the sidelines of this event, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa and H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, as part of the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture 2024, Bensaid stated that this exceptional fashion show celebrates the caftan's ancestral nature and the revival of this authentic Moroccan heritage in different regions of the Kingdom.
He also emphasized the Ministry's work in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, civil society players and professionals in the sector to have "Moroccan caftan" included on UNESCO's list of intangible heritage next year.
The fashion show, attended by around 300 guests, featured 10 Moroccan caftan designers, who shaped their dreams into unique creations blending tradition and modernity.
Marked by musical sequences reflecting the richness and diversity of Morocco's musical heritage, the event was attended by several foreign ambassadors and prominent personalities from the realms of art, culture and business.
Initiated by "Years of Culture", the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture 2024 bears witness to the depth and solidity of historic ties between the two brotherly peoples and the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
