Organized as part of the 6th “Florilège Culturel” Festival, the panel, placed under the theme “International cooperation for AI in favor of common good”, was an opportunity for participants to highlight the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing experience in the field of AI, with the aim of improving people's quality of life in challenging times.
In this regard, University Professor in China and President of the Africa-China Cooperation Association for Development (ACCAD) Nasser Bouchiba called for the implementation of applications offering solutions in favor of societies, noting that “AI should contribute to achieving significant growth in global economy and an increase in productivity”.
He underlined that strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area could bring many benefits in key sectors such as mining exploration, water management and renewable energy.
In this context, General representative of Chinese company Beijing GS Technology Yiyuan Hao presented a “smart city” concept developed by her firm, aimed at maintaining public safety through AI technologies and promoting sustainable development.
She mentioned that this “smart city” concept can solve several problems linked to epidemics as well as natural and industrial disasters, noting that this model reduces false alarms linked to disasters by 90% and improves identifying these disasters and implementing emergency plans by almost 95%.
For his part, Computer science lecturer and Deputy Director of the TICLab research laboratory at the International University of Rabat (UIR) Ouissam Karrakchou cited the contributions of AI applications in various fields, stressing the need to develop new applications based on this technology to improve Moroccans' quality of life .
He reviewed a number of cooperative projects between the TICLab at UIR and other partners, focusing in particular on rationalizing the use of water resources to tackle the problem of drought, through using “Smart Farming” technology to determine the plant's preliminary requirements in terms of water and organic matter.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 6th “Florilège Culturel” Festival, initiated by the Ribat Al Fath Association until December 20, brings together researchers, experts, political decision-makers and civil society players, to promote exchanges around concrete applications of AI in key areas such as health, education, the environment and the economy.
