On this occasion, the FAAPA delegation took note of the work of the Agency, created in 1986 to position itself as a lever at the service of the Kingdom's international cooperation, with a strong focus on promoting the South-South cooperation advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
This concerns undertaking actions in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, with a view to consolidating Morocco's positioning in the framework of South-South cooperation, particularly towards African countries, explained AMCI's Head of Bilateral Technical Cooperation, Amal Aaidi.
In this respect, two institutional films were screened, describing AMCI's missions and achievements, particularly in the fields of academic, technical, cultural and artistic cooperation, in addition to its contribution to international development projects.
The FAAPA delegation then toured the various outbuildings of Rabat's International University Campus, a cosmopolitan facility that welcomes students of various nationalities every year as part of cooperation agreements between Morocco and partner countries.
The delegation was also briefed on the services offered by the Campus, which include sports, socio-cultural and health facilities, as well as an international language center.
With a capacity of 800 beds, the Campus, 85% of whose residents come from Sub-Saharan African countries, is primarily dedicated to accommodating foreign students and trainees.
As a responsible and committed actor in promoting human capital, AMCI contributes every year to the training of thousands of international talents, a large majority of whom are African students, in essential disciplines to the growth of the countries of the South, especially Africa.
This visit took place on the sidelines of the 8th FAAPA General Assembly, themed "African Press Agencies as Vehicle for Promoting the Continent’s Health Sovereignty." This unmissable event sheds light on ways to promote and strengthen African health sovereignty to better face future challenges.
This two-day assembly brings together Directors-General of several African news agencies, alongside media and health experts, as well as distinguished personalities from various backgrounds. It also marks the 10th anniversary of FAAPA’s establishment, providing a platform for reflection on the future of African news agencies and the role they must play in the 21st century, with respect to their diversity and unique characteristics.
