This complex operation, which lasted nearly five hours, was supervised by Professor Mohamed Laaroussi, head of the cardiac surgery department at the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, in collaboration with a medical and nursing team from the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said in a press release.
The surgery was performed on a 63-year-old patient and required a high level of precision and concentration due to its complexity, the same source added.
The first of its kind, this medical breakthrough represents a significant advancement in the field of cardiac and vascular surgery in Morocco. Such procedures are usually carried out in specialized university hospital centers, according to the same source.
