Speaking at a press conference providing updates on the latest developments in this case, Lahrour emphasized that the investigation began following a complaint filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office by a citizen who, along with her family, was victim to threats, defamation, and extortion.
The complaint was referred to the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) for investigation, he added, highlighting that an additional group of suspects was presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office today, including an individual responsible for editing video clips for the main suspect, who remains on the run abroad, that were later published on social media platforms.
The main suspect had received multiple financial transfers in exchange for these video clips, Lahrour said, noting that members of this network, who have family ties to him, actively assisted in his criminal activities.
He further pointed out that since last Saturday, thirteen individuals, including a minor, have been presented before the authorities on suspicion of committing multiple crimes, adding that forensic analysis of mobile phones was conducted to retrieve messages exchanged between the main suspect and another individual, who had deleted all videos and messages between them out of fear that law enforcement might uncover them.
Investigations are still ongoing to uncover the remaining individuals involved in these crimes.
