This security operation, conducted in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie in Skhirat, resulted in the arrest of five individuals aged between 24 and 50, for their alleged links with a criminal network active in the international smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) says in a press release.

Searches carried out inside two utility vehicles led to the seizure of 109 bundles of chira, totaling 4.321 t, the same source adds, noting that ongoing searches and investigations also led to the seizure of four vehicles used by the suspects to help execute these criminal acts, in addition to a sum of money amounting to MAD 4 million suspected of being the spoils of this criminal activity.

The five suspects were taken into custody for further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, to identify any possible connections of this criminal activity, and to arrest any other accomplices in these criminal acts.
