New cases dropped 13% to 2,481 in the week of Feb. 24–March 2, following a 14.9% decline the previous week, when 2,863 cases were reported, the ministry pointed out in a press release.
The ministry attributed the improvement to nationwide vaccination catch-up campaigns and urged continued vigilance, citing regional disparities in infection rates and immunization coverage.
To bolster progress, the government extended its measles vaccination drive until March 28, offering free immunizations at health centers. Authorities encouraged parents to ensure their children are vaccinated to curb transmission.
Despite the downward trend, the ministry warned that measles remains a public health concern and reiterated that vaccination is the most effective means of prevention.
