The acquisition of these helicopters is "another building block added to the foundation of our strong and deeply rooted relations," stated the FAR Inspector General during the ceremony for receiving six AH-64E Apache helicopters, held at the 1st Air Base of the Royal Air Force in Salé.
This acquisition also aligns with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, aiming "to equip our armed forces with advanced capabilities that have proven their effectiveness in the field," he added.
In this context, he highlighted the features of this helicopter type, which "enjoys global recognition for its technological superiority, precision, and combat effectiveness."
Its integration into the FAR strengthens "our defense capabilities to better protect our territorial integrity, contribute effectively to peace and security," and significantly enhance interoperability between the FAR and their American counterparts, thus facilitating better coordination during joint maneuvers and exercises, particularly the annual African Lion exercise, he noted.
"The United States has always been a key partner of our country, and the arrival of these helicopters today further reinforces our defense cooperation, illustrating our shared commitment to a world where peace is built through military preparation and mutual support between allies and partners," he stressed.
The FAR Inspector General emphasized the total commitment of the Royal Armed Forces, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, to continue and strengthen cooperation with the United States in order to jointly face the common challenges threatening regional and international peace and security.
The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of National Defence Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi; the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour; the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa; Lieutenant General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie; and Major General of Air Division Mohammed Gadih, Inspector of the FAR.
The ceremony was also attended by a high-profile American delegation led by General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM), along with the Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco, Aimee Cutrona.
