The discussions provided an opportunity to address the latest developments concerning the Moroccan Sahara issue.
In this regard, Ould Errachid emphasized the relevance of Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, as a serious and credible basis for the definitive resolution of the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
He highlighted the growing support from the UN and the international community for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty, noting that this initiative remains the only solution to end this artificial conflict.
The meeting was also an opportunity to shed light on ways to strengthen cooperation with Latin America and develop institutional and bilateral relations with the countries of the region in general and the Andean Community in particular.
