Speaking after a meeting with the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councilors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, Ackson highlighted Morocco’s engagement in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting justice and peace.
She also praised the Kingdom’s “clear and intense” commitment to supporting stability and development in the Sahel region, describing its efforts as key to making the area “more livable” for its people.
Ould Errachid, who is leading the Moroccan delegation to the Assembly, commended the IPU’s growing role in shaping UN decision-making since the signing of a cooperation protocol between the two organizations. The agreement, he said, has amplified the voice of parliaments in international forums.
He also underlined the “qualitative and distinguished” momentum in cooperation between the Moroccan Parliament and the IPU in recent years.
That cooperation, he noted, has helped address a range of global challenges, including climate change, migration, social justice, and the fight against terrorism, violent extremism, and organized crime.
Both sides expressed interest in deepening collaboration and discussed the upcoming 3rd South-South Dialogue, to be held in Morocco on April 28–29. IPU President Ackson is among more than 30 parliamentary speakers invited to attend.
