On this occasion, Speaker of the House, Mohamed Ould Errachid, highlighted the pressing development challenges and priority social issues, emphasizing the commitment of the Upper House's members to make this session a qualitative milestone in improving the legislative framework, enhancing oversight of government action, and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.
He also expressed pride in the significant achievements made possible by the foresighted Royal Diplomacy regarding Morocco’s territorial integrity, citing the growing momentum of recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the increasing international support for the autonomy initiative as the only solution to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Ould Errachid noted that the reaffirmation by the U.S. of its recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara is part of this momentum, reiterating the Upper House’s commitment to intensifying its parliamentary support for the pioneering Royal Diplomacy and to translating the Sovereign’s High Guidelines into concrete achievements.
He announced that the House of Councillors plans to host a series of international events, including the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation, the Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, the Morocco–Latin America Economic Parliamentary Forum, and the Africa–Latin America Parliamentary Forum (AFROLAC).
According to Ould Errachid, the previous October session was marked by the adoption of an innovative new working approach, in line with the strategy implemented for the second half of the 2021–2026 legislature. During the recess between the two sessions, he said, the House fully carried out its roles across various areas of parliamentary activity.
