This position was expressed in statements to the press following the periodic meeting dedicated to monitoring the advanced regionalization project, chaired by the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, in the presence of the presidents of the regions, the walis, and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, devoted to examining the recommendations from the Second National Conference on Advanced Regionalization.
On this occasion, the president of the Regional Council of Guelmim-Oued Noun, Mbarka Bouaida, stated that this meeting is a suitable opportunity to assess the second edition of the National Conference on Advanced Regionalization, held in Tangier, which concluded with the adoption of a series of recommendations, as well as the identification of challenges related to the implementation of this strategic Royal project.
This meeting allowed to outline the main points of the roadmap to complete the process of implementing advanced regionalization, Bouaida emphasized, who is also President of the Association of Regions of Morocco, noting that this strategic project has already passed important milestones.
She also highlighted the persisting challenges, particularly the activation of agreements signed during the Forum, the effective implementation of the regions’ exclusive powers, as well as the implementation of the charter of administrative devolution.
After ten years of practical application of advanced regionalization in its new form, it is time to update the legal and organizational texts and to introduce amendments that reflect the reality of the daily practice of advanced regionalization, she added.
For his part, the president of the Regional Council of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, noted that this meeting made it possible to evaluate the achievements related to the implementation of advanced regionalization, highlighting the importance of a real assessment with a forward-looking perspective in order to implement this major Royal project, which will transform the regions and contribute to enhancing development at both regional and national levels.
It is possible to amend laws or decrees, in accordance with the implementation of the High Royal Vision of advanced regionalization, he added.
In turn, the president of the Regional Council of Béni Mellal-Khenifra, Adil Barakat, praised the Ministry of the Interior's continuous support in implementing the advanced regionalization project, while granting regional institutions the place they deserve at the territorial level.
Major, more attractive development projects will be carried out in the regions in the future, he continued, recalling in this regard that Morocco will host a series of large-scale events.
