HM the King inaugurated a sports hall in Al-Aroui and launched the construction works of a semi-Olympic in-door swimming pool in the city, and three community-based socio-sports complexes (Type A) in Selouane, Ihaddadane and Tiztoutine.
The projects, which fall within the scope of the provincial sprogramme for the development of the sector of youth and sports for a total investment of nearly 43 million dirhams, reflect the special interest the sovereign takes in sports and the youth.
The projects also attest to HM the King's determination to involve this segment of society in the various reform projects initiated in the Kingdom, in line with the spirit of the royal speech at the 59th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and of the People in which the Sovereign had emphasized that "the objectives targeted by the major projects we have launched to build a model society, which is deeply committed to its identity and to active solidarity between all segments of the population, can be achieved only through the hard work, creativity and genius of our young people."
Having a strong social value added, the projects aim at accompanying the province's demographic and urban development, strengthening its sporting facilities, promoting sports and artistic skills of children and young people and fighting crime and school dropout.
They will also promote the qualification of young people in the region and promote socio-cultural integration of the target populations through a broad access to basic services and facilities and the improvement of sports in all disciplines.
These community-based projects further reinforce the royal Initiative for the development of Morocco's eastern region, which primarily aims to develop the potential of young people to make them real development actors.
