The Sovereign expressed to HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani his high regard for his efforts throughout the period he spent at the head of the State of Qatar in serving the best interests of his people and consolidating the standing of his country and its active and influential presence in the regional and international scenes.

    "I take this opportunity to express to Your Highness my great pride in the ties of sincere brotherhood, friendship and mutual esteem between us personally and our two families, as well as in the fruitful cooperation ties and effective solidarity between our two sister countries," HM the King said.

   The Sovereign reaffirmed his constant keenness to continue consultation and coordination with His Highness and to work with his successor, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in order to deepen these relations in various fields towards serving the best interests of the two peoples and contribute to the triumph of the just causes of the Arab and Islamic Umma.

   The Sovereign said he was confident that the proven experience and expertise of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in managing the affairs of his country, the qualities of wisdom and political foresight that he is known for, which enabled Qatar to enjoy a distinguished standing among developed countries and the respect of the international community, "will be of great support to your devoted son to fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly people of Qatar for progress, prosperity and glory and continue efforts to contribute to strengthening the bonds of fraternity and solidarity towards establishing the principles of freedom and democracy in the Arab and Islamic world."
