Upon her arrival, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem was greeted mainly by communication minister and Govt. spokesperson Mustapha Khalfi, Tourism minister Lahcen Haddad, and Culture minister Mohamed Amine Sbihi. She was also greeted by the Fest jury chaired by US film-maker Martin Scorsese, foreign and Moroccan actors as well as heads of institutions partners of the event.

 The 13th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, opened on Friday at the city's convention center.

 The opening ceremony was marked by the attendance of figures from several spheres mainly culture and the movie industry.

 This edition is marked by the attendance of Indian star Deepika Padukone and Egyptian actor Adel Imam, in addition to US star Sharon Stone who was granted the FIFM Star award.

 Now in its 13th year, the Marrakech International Film Festival has grown in size and star power, with Martin Scorsese, Marion Cotillard and Patricia Clarkson as jury members of this year's edition.

 Tributes will be paid to outstanding figures of the world and Morocco’s cinema, including US actors Sharon Stone, French star Juliette Binoche and Moroccan actor Mohamed Khouyi.
