During the closing session, which was attended by several government officials, experts, and policy-makers, the participants unanimously stressed the need to make the human element a cornerstone of any national, regional or international initiative in the field of health management.
Sheikha Ghalia bint Mohammad Al-Thani, a member of Qatar's Supreme Council of Health and member of the board of directors of "Sidra" Center for medicine and research in Doha, emphasized the importance of including patients in the decision-making process in the field of health.
For his part, Professor Lord Darzi de Denham, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of WISH and Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Innovation for Global Health at Imperial College London, said everyone is aware of the importance of involving patients and interacting with them in the medical care process.
"If we want to improve the care-providing service, it is important to be in the patient's shoes and identify the appropriate mechanisms to contribute to all stakeholders of the health sector, we also must involve citizens in such a matter that affects their everyday life," he said.
The opening session of the summit was marked by a speech by HRH Princess Lalla Salma during which she presented Morocco's experience in health care, particularly in favor of cancer patients.
On Wednesday, HRH Princess Lalla Salma visited Al Amal Oncology Hospital in Doha, which provides services for early diagnosis, treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, and education of patients and their families.
