HM the King congratulates Prince Zeid Ben Raad Al-Hussein on appointment as UN high commissioner for human rights
Rabat - HM King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to Prince Zeid Ben Raad Al-Hussein following his appointment as UN High commissioner for human rights.
The unanimity over your appointment, as the first Arab and Muslim figure to hold this high-ranking position at the United Nations Organization, reflects the respect and the trust that you enjoy with the secretary general and the representatives of the UN general assembly, thanks to your high human qualities, intellectual integrity and long experience accumulated in the discharge of your responsibilities as a seasoned diplomat of your country, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, or as an experienced human rights defender in the UN corridors, HM the King said.
"I am convinced that you will spare no effort to lend new dynamism to the efforts of the UN high commission for human rights and contribute, efficiently in fulfilling its lofty objectives", the Royal message adds.
The Sovereign also praises the excellent cooperation relations existing between Morocco and the High Commission for human rights, reaffirming Morocco's irreversible commitment to deepen the rule of law and the defense of human rights, as well as the Moroccan government's readiness to consolidate this cooperation at the national and international levels, in order to contribute to the promotion of human rights as they are universally recognized based on guaranteeing dignity, freedom, human development and equality for all without discrimination or exclusion.
HM the King extends to Prince Zeid Ben Raad Al-Hussein warmest congratulations and best wishes of success in his lofty mission.
