In a statement to the press, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences Flavia Schlegel said that the organization by Morocco, in November 2016, of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP22) was discussed during this meeting, in addition to the importance of educating children and youth on sustainable development to raise the awareness of new generations regarding environment protection.
Schlegel also hailed the signing, on Tuesday, of the partnership agreement on Education for Sustainable Development in Morocco, the ceremony of which was chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, noting that these agreements will facilitate the training of professors and students on environmental issues.
The meeting was attended mainly by UNESCO Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information Eric Falt, and Bokova's Paris office chief Paola Leoncini Bartoli.
Upon her arrival at UNESCO headquarters, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was received notably by Rachid Benmokhtar, Minister of national Education and vocational training, Chakib Benmoussa, Morocco's ambassador to France, and Zohour Alaoui, Morocco's UNESCO delegate ambassador.
