In a statement, the national police (DGSN) stated that the suspect was caught red-handed for fraud and identity theft, claiming to be the delegate of a national charity organization while trying to ask the director of a private educational institution to donate a financial contribution, under the pretext of distributing it to vulnerable social categories that are subject to the health emergency measures adopted to combat the epidemic of the new Coronavirus.
The search carried out as part of this case led to the seizure of the suspect's car, two forged stamps bearing the seals of two public administrations and a charity membership card, in addition to a register that includes a list of names and seals of 54 private companies based in the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Bouznika, Mohammedia and Temara, suspected of being defrauded by this individual, the same source added.
The suspect has been placed in police custody to complete the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor's office to determine the ins and outs of this case and to identify other possible victims of these criminal acts, the statement concluded.
