Eleven new deaths were also reported, bringing the number of fatalities due to the virus to 21, El Mourabit said in a statement broadcast by MAP on its channel M24 and RIM RADIO.
The number of people declared cured is 11, he said.
In terms of geographical distribution, the Casablanca-Settat region accounted for 104 cases and the Fez-Meknes region 63 cases, followed by Rabat-Salé-Kénitra 56, Marrakech-Safi 51, Tangier-Tetouan-El Hoceima 23, Souss-Massa 11, the Eastern region 12, Beni Mellal-Khénifra 07, Drâa-Tafilalet 05, and Guelmim-Oud Noun 01, said the Moroccan official, noting that the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia-Hamra and Dakhla-Oud Eddahab remain unharmed so far.
With regard to the cities with the highest number of reported cases, El Mourabit noted that Casablanca recorded 102 cases, followed by Meknes (45), Marrakech (44), Rabat (27) and Fez (17).
Concerning the distribution of cases according to their origin, he said that the percentage of local contaminations had risen to 57% of the total number of cases, compared with 43% for imported cases.
As for the clinical condition of patients currently under treatment, El Mourabit said that the health status of 86% of people infected with the virus is considered "stable or moderate", while 14% of them are in a "difficult or critical" state.
Regarding the distribution of cases by age group, he stressed that they are broken down as follows: over 65 years of age (36%), 40-65 years of age (28%), 25-40 years of age (18%), and under 25 (18%).
