The suspects used the garage of a building at the Al-Saada neighbourhood in Fez as an illicit workshop for the preparation of falsified cleaning and disinfection products, the national police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that they were using a mixture of cleaning products with a nitric acid solution, as well as other chemicals, the nature and degree of seriousness of which will be determined by ongoing investigations and chemical expertise.
The searches carried out in this workshop led to the seizure of tens of litres of the chemicals used in this criminal act and others used to mix these products, as well as large quantities of bottles and posters used to prepare these solutions, intended for sale as certified medical and paramedical products.
The suspects have been placed in police custody to complete the judicial investigation conducted by the prefectural service of the judicial police of Fez under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office in order to determine the other accomplices in this criminal act, which constitutes a direct attack on consumer safety, in view of the state of health emergency in force in Morocco.
