Several arrest warrants were issued against the suspect between 2014 and 2020 for international drug trafficking, forming a criminal gang, possession of a firearm, gunshots and car arson, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that the man was arrested in the city of Smara.

Searches carried out by policemen led to the seizure of mobile phones and a sum of money, the source pointed out, adding that three other people, including a woman, were arrested to conduct preliminary investigation into their alleged involvement in the activity of this criminal gang, while the main suspect was placed on custody.

Investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the source said.

This security operation is part of efforts made by security services to fight against international drug trafficking.
