The number of people declared as recovered rose, until Saturday at 6:00 p.m., to 146 cases (22 additional recoveries), while that of deaths reached 111, after the registration of four new deaths in the last 24 hours, said director of epidemiology and fight against diseases at the Ministry of Health Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
6,403 suspected cases were dismissed following negative laboratory tests, said El Youbi.
Regarding the geographical distribution, the official underlined that the Casablanca-Settat region still has the highest number of cases, with nearly 29% of the total, followed in particular by Marrakech-Safi (18.4%), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (14.6%) and Fez-Meknes (12.6%).
The regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Guelmim-Oued Noun remain the least affected, with 2 and 1 case respectively.
Regarding the state of health of the confirmed cases at the time of their reporting, Youbi noted that more than 70% were mild cases, 14% had no symptoms and 15.6% were in an advanced stage or a serious condition.
By sex, 52.6% of confirmed cases concern men, against 47.4% for women, while the average age has risen to 46.5 years, with 2 months as the minimum age and 96 years as the maximum age.
This slight drop in the average age is explained by the increasing number of cases detected in family environments constituting hotbeds of contamination. This leads to the discovery of very young cases following the screening of contact persons, he explained, adding that among the 97 new cases discovered during the past 24 hours, 70 followed this process.
3,541 contact persons are still in confinement and under medical supervision, he said.
Addressing the issue of wearing face masks, the official warned against the misuse of these items and avoiding touching them with the hand.
