One new death due to coronavirus complications was reported in the same period, bringing the total number of fatalities to 127, while twelve new recoveries were registered, which rises to 229 the total number of recovered covid-19 patients, Director of epidemiology at the ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, pointed out in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 channel and RIM radio.
The number of suspected cases excluded following negative tests in the past 24 hours has reached 222, bringing the total of excluded cases since the start of the outbreak to 8,256, the official said.
Regarding the 136 new covid-19 cases, El Youbi said that 114 of them are people who had contact with confirmed cases and were reported mainly in some commercial and industrial units as well as among family members of covid-19 cases.
Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 12,192 people who had contact with Covid-19 cases have been placed under medical surveillance, 5,338 of whom are still under control, he said, adding that the follow up of these people helped to report 979 covid-19 cases out of a total of 2,024 confirmed cases.
El Youbi said that, in addition to the laboratories of the Institut Pasteur in Casablanca, the National Hygiene Institute in Rabat and the laboratories of military hospitals, six laboratories belonging to University Hospital Centers as well as two others belonging to semi-private hospitals carry out Covid-19 tests.
